Party conversation-starter
So, what have you done to get yourself on the Homeland Security watch list?
(and yes, I assume that this LJ post isn't mine...)

I crossed the US border post 2001 using only a birth certificate, a social insurance number card, and an expired University of Waterloo student ID.

I am a damned furriner, who was working for the federal government in a job that required a 'confidential' level of clearance on the US secrecy classifications (levels are confidential, secret and top secret). I still hold the classification, the rating lasts a decade, and until they inform me I don't have it, it's de facto that I do.
This caused both problems and eased my way last year when renewing my green card (which is also Homeland Security issued); the border guys were sort of pissy about it (technically, my classification is better than what you get working the Canadian border, and when they look me up, they're told that), and the actual immigration office treated it more as, 'hey, it's still valid, hasn't been revoked, so you're extra clean.'
Admittedly, it was *clean* because 6 months after leaving the CDC I left the states, and they prolly just left it as cruft. But I *look* great on paper.

On my recent trip to Jamestown to perform at the 400th anniversary festival, all participants were asked by the Secret Service for their full name, address, and social security number because he-who-calls-himself-the-President was going to be in attendance. I refused to give the Social Security number. Apparently they were able to figure out who I was from other means because I was never told I couldn't attend... but I'm probably on a terror watch list now for my treasonous act of disloyalty...
(actually, it's funny... they weren't checking IDs at the Secret Service screening to get into the park, so any terr'ist could easily have slipped in anyway...)

I worked with a secret (but not top secret) clearance on military projects, then dropped out of a private sector job to work for no money in spite of a six-figure annual incentive not to do so.

I wondered about that record.
/me wanders off whistling tunelessly.
